safari extensions vs. mozilla addons

With the release of Safari 5.0 the Apple browser now has the ability to add extensions just like the ones for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. The Safari Extensions Gallery provides tools for Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, and many more are listed. These extensions are built with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.

With only a few extensions available it is to be expected that developers will want to mark their territory and create their killer extensions. Meanwhile development for and popularity of the Mozilla add-ons program seems to slow down (see graphic) after its peak during summer 2009. But with its 13,090 ad-ons, Mozilla will stay ahead of competition for a while longer.

fusionbureau dives into google wave

Google Wave is not only a new disruptive online application merging most of what people do online in a single location.

Google Wave is also a new protocol bound to change the social and commercial landscape. It has the potential to revolutionize the online experience.

Google Wave is "a personal communication and collaboration tool". It is a web-based service, computing platform, and communications protocol designed to merge e-mail, instant messaging, wikis, and social networking. It has a strong collaborative and real-time focus supported by extensions that can provide, for example, robust spelling/grammar checking, automated translation between 40 languages, and numerous other extensions. Initially released only to developers, a "preview release" of Google Wave has been extended to about 600,000 users since September 30, 2009, with the initial 100,000 users each allowed to invite up to five additional users.

People who preview Google Wave will need to wait until their friends also have received an invitation before they can start a wave together. Meanwhile it is possible to participate in the public waves by typing following query in the search box:

with:public keyword

where you replace the word 'keyword' with your own, such as 'fusionbureau'
